JOHN2 MORTON (THOMAS1) was born Bef. 1650 in Kent, England, and died Bef. 02 May 1722 in Henrico County, VA.He married JOANE HUGHES 25 Jul 1682.She was born 1655 in Kent County, England.
Notes for JOHN MORTON:
Edward and Mary Schoberg's research from "The Morton Story" states, "John Morton was probably born in England. This assumption is based on the fact that in 1710, an entry was made in Henrico County, Virginia records 'that John Morton had imported himself and wife from England and was entitled to land grant.' Land grant records show that John Morton was a resident of and owned land in Henrico County, Virginia by 1710.
Based on these records and the fact that John Morton married Joane Anes Hughes (a widow) on July 25, 1682, it is thought that John Morton was married twice. The name of the first wife is unknown but there is some evidence that she was Deborah ? perhaps Sydenham."
