About John Moutray
THE FAMILY OF MOUTRAY OWNED 6,545 ACRES OF LAND IN COUNTY TYRONE
JOHN MOUTRAY, of Aghamoyles, alias Favour Royal, County Tyrone, ancestor of the Ulster branch of the family, was the younger son of Robert Moutray, 9th Laird of Seafield and 1st Laird of Roscobie, Fifeshire.
This gentleman settled in the Province probably at the same time as the Erskines, and there married his cousin Anne, youngest daughter of the Rev Archibald Erskine, of Aghamoyles, by his second wife, Lettice, daughter of Sir Paul Gore Bt.
By his wife Mr Moutray had issue a son,
JAMES MOUTRAY, of Aghamoyles, or Favour Royal, who inherited the estate of Favour Royal from his mother.
