About John Norcross
The English Norcross Family and Some Decendants of William Norcross 1699 to America edited by Elsie M. Cameron.
"John Norcross, eldest son of Thomas Norcross and Mary Chappell, was born in England about 1590 and died there after 1642. He was married about 1611, but his wife's name is not known. John Norcross, like his father, was a London merchant. He belonged to the Haberdashers Company of London and was freed from his apprenticeship by Patrimony (his father) on 12 Feb 1611. He was about 48 years old when he came with his brother Jeremiah to New England in 1638. John purchased 22 acres of land in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and lived there until 1642. When his brother Jeremiah removed to Watertown in 1642, John returned to England and died there. He had at least two children:
1. Anna Norcross, who married Samuel Davis of London in 1632. They came with her father to Cambridge and remained in America after her father returned to England.
2.Thomas Norcross II, son of John Norcross, was born in England at an unknown date, and died there in 1662. He was a linen manufacturer, died at Barton, England a small town near Manchester. and is buried at Ribchester. Little is known about him, except that he died in 1662 and was buried at Ribchester, Lancashire, England. The wife of Thomas Norcross is not known. He had three children: William Norcross (second emigrant to America), Judith Norcross and Margaret Norcross."
