John Pace was another son of Richard II. Since his older brother George inherited all of the remaining lands and John had to move on. We know that he married an Elizabeth Lowe in about 1689 and received as a Dowery right some land in Prince George County. The Lowe's, William and Ann were a prominent family and owned lands around the present city of Petersburgh, Virginia In her fathers will of 1870, it shows a daughter Elizabeth Pace and 2 sons William Jr. and John Lowe. While still living near the Lowes, their 1st son George was born, and immediately became a favorite of his grandfather. John Pace was the first of the Paces to leave this area. Records show he and his family living on land in the extreme southern portion of Surrey County,(later Brunswick County), near the Meherrin River just north of the North Carolina line near the present city of Emporia. In 1712 John obtained a grant in Occaneechee Neck in Bertie Precinct,(later Northampton Co), North Carolina. The land was enclosed by the sweeping bend of the Moratuck (Roanoke) River. Soon most of the Lowe family had followed them and lived near by. A map dated 1775 still shows a "Pace's Mill" at this location. John and his family lived there for about 15 years. He died in 1727 leaving a will, probated 25 Mar 1726. In it he named his son George as the executor, and named his other 6 children, who for the first time received an equal distribution of his assets, rather than it all going to an oldest son. There is no mention of a widow, so Elizabeth must have preceeded him in death. Many of the Paces also moved to North Carolina and remained there for the next 70 years. In 1790 they moved in mass to Georgia.

The Jamestown and Charles City Paces = Haplogroup R1b. Richard Pace II did have a son John, who married Elizabeth Lowe.
