John Polk of Maury County, TN received a deed from his Uncle Ezekiel Polk 25 Dec 1806, Ezekiel was the grandfather of Pres. James K. Polk, this deed is recorded 27 April 1811. These men are said to be of Williamson county Tennessee. The land is described as being connected to the land of Ezekiel and William Polk who were both of Williamson County before it became Maury County, TN. John Polk of Maury County is definetly the nephew of Ezekiel Franklin Polk based on the Deed for land on Carters Creek, Maury Co., Tennessee. Ezekiel Franklin Polk had 4 brothers William b: abt 1725, Thomas 1830, Charles 1732 and John 1731/37.

(x) Elizabeth and John Polk were orginially buried in the Polk Cemetery in Theta. The remains of John & Elizabeth Polk were moved to St. John's Cemetery serveral years ago. This small cemetery (Polk Cemetery in Theta) was named for these Carter's Creek pioneers. The century old Polk house stood nearby until 4 jan 1942 when it burned. There are only three box tombs listed in this cemetery. John Died 24 May 1845 and Elizabeth died 24 Nov 1829.
