They married 03 Aug 1779 in Goochland Co., VA (as recorded in the Douglas Register… another source has marriage bond dated 31 Jul 1779 in Goochland Co, VA, naming Isham Johnson as Mary’s guardian and with John’s father William.

Price consenting to son’s marriage and David Johnson, Jr., as security). John is named by his mother in the 1815 deed mentioned earlier. Mary was the daughter of James Johnson and Rachel Haden. August 1773, Isham Johnson undertakes the guardianship of the orphan children of James Johnson, Jr., deceased (Goochland Order Book 12, p. 336).

Louisa Co., VA, Deed book has deed from William Price to son John Price dated 03 Oct 1784. John Price and William Price, Jr., witnessed a deed in Pittsylvania Co., VA, on 12 Dec 1799 (Deed Book 12, p. 47)

John Price first appears on Logan Co., KY, tax records in 1808. Tax records show that he owned no land until 1810, when he owned 200 acres on the Gasper and 350 acres in Warren Co., KY. In 1811, he had 250 acres on the Gasper (from Long/Slaughter), 450 acres on Muddy River. In 1812, there are 415 acres on the Gasper plus the 250 (Long/Slaughter).

John Price had purchased 250 acres for $1,000 in Logan Co., KY, on the waters of the Gasper (military survey for Philip Slaughter, assignee of Reuben Long), on 01 Mar 1810 (Logan Co, Deed Book C, p. 96). On 28 Mar 1814, John Price, Sr., and wife Mary sold 125 acres on waters of the Gasper to Reuben Rogers for $750 (Deed Book D, p. 89). On 28 Mar 1814, John Price, Sr., and wife Mary sold 125 acres on waters of the Gasper to Joseph Sawyers for $700 (Deed Book D, p. 90). His will is recorded in Logan Co., KY, Will Book C, p. 102. It was written 16 Sep 1820, proven 06 Sep 1824. It names his wife Mary Johnson Price and children John (deceased, and his children William and Mary Ann Price), Thomas (land after his wife dies), Ann Johnson, Daniel, David, Major, Sucky Duncan, and Polly Price.

The division of the slaves of John Price dec’d is recorded in Will Book C, p. 128. It is dated 09 Nov 1824, recorded 06 Dec 1824, and names Major J. Price, David Price, Daniel Price, Nancy Johnson, William Duncan, Joel Price, and Thomas Price.
