John Purdon born at Lanark Scotland, married Mary Clifford Harrison on 13th Oct 1804 at Dublin. John 40, army pensioner late Sergt 53rd Foot, sailed with his family; w Mary 34, c William 11, Henry 9, Elizabeth 5 & Charles 2. as members of the Willson's party aboard the "La Belle Alliance". The ship left the Downs on the 12th Feb 1820, arrived in Table Bay on 2 May 1820 and then Algoa Bay end of May 1820. They were located on the Bush River, tributary to the Torrens River. Thomas WILLSON left the party upon its arrival there and the Rev. William Boardman took charge.
