20-year term in Redman slaying by A.J. Flick on Aug 23, 2005, Tucson Citizen

A man who fled to Florida after an April 2004 slaying will spend the next 20 years in an Arizona prison. Pima County Superior Court Judge Charles S. Sabalos sentenced John Claude Daniels, 61, to 20 years for killing John Fletcher Redman Jr., 56, in his East Skyline Drive home, said court spokesman David S. Ricker. Daniels was indicted on a charge of first-degree murder but pleaded guilty to manslaughter. Sheriff’s deputies found the body of Redman, who was stabbed to death, after his sister became worried and asked deputies to check on him. Daniels was arrested in St. Petersburg, Fla., after four months as a fugitive. Deputies believe Daniels killed Redman, who was a co-worker, as part of a robbery.
