John Rich "of Provincetown" was born on 14 September 1714 at Eastham. He was the son of Thomas Rich and Mercy Knowles.

John Rich "of Provincetown" married Lydia Young, daughter of James Young and Mary Higgins, on 13 October 1737 at Truro.

John Rich "of Provincetown" died on 6 August 1777 at Middle Haddam, CT, at age 62.
