About Sarah Shaw
Descendant of Elder William Brewster, "Mayflower" Passenger and Mary Brewster, "Mayflower" Passenger
Sarah Rich was born at Eastham, on Cape Cod, on the first day of September, 1712; she was one of twelve children of Thomas and Mercy (Knowles) Rich, and was a Mayflower descendant via the Knowles line. In the fall of 1731, she married Jonathan Shaw, son of George and Constance (Doane) Shaw -- George a son of Jonathan, who was a son of (immigrant) John.
Sarah (Rich) Shaw is presumed to have died as early as 1740; her husband is believed to be the Jonathan Shaw who was by then "of Middlebrorough", and who married Persis Pratt of Plympton, in Plympton, on 23 November -- barring this turning out to be a third marriage of that Jonathan's cousin, also Jonathan (III), of Plympton.
