John Richard Brooke was born on November 18, 1667, in Mere, Cheshire, England, and was baptized in 1667 in Oxford, St Ebbe, Oxfordshire, England. His parents were Richard Brooke Of Astley Hall and Margaret Wharton Charnock.

John married Margaret Ireland Brooke in 1685 in Virginia, United States, Virginia, United States. Together they had the following children:

• Lucy Brooke.

He died in 1725 in Virginia, United States.

This was his father and Uncle, traveling for business. Richard Brooke was enrolled 18 April 1635 at London as a passenger for New England on the Susan and Ellen under Edward Payne, master [captain]. On the 9th of May, he enrolled again on the same ship. In each entry, the succeeding name was Thomas Brooke, presumed to be his brother. Both men initially settled at Lynn, Massachusetts.

Richard Brooke is said to have removed to East Hampton in 1650, although the Great Migration authors cast doubt upon this claim.
