About John Richardson

On 16 Feb 1790, John and Sintha purchased 600 acres of land from Nathaniel Pearre on the Spring Branch Creek running into Newford Creek. The land was located on both banks of Newford Creek in Pope's District, Wilkes Co., GA; Pope's District was named for their neighbor, Captain Wylie Pope. The family of Syntha Willis also lived in the Pope District. A year later, on 21 Jan 1791, John sold 300 acres of the Newford Creek property to his brother, Thomas Richardson. On 20 April 1791, John and Sintha purchased 500 acres of land from James and Luranar (---) Alford on the south fork of the Broad River, adjacent to Beverdam Creek, Laurance Creek and Golden Grove Creek; all in Wilkes Co., GA. In 1812, John and Syntha (Willis) Richardson moved to Fountain Creek, Maury Co., TN where their son, James Milam Richardson had settled prior to 1810. It was located ten miles south of Columbia, TN.

Pvt Wiley P. Richardson served during the War of 1812 under the command of Col. William Pillows.

John Richardson's will written and witnessed on 5 Feb 1839 bequeathed his estate to Sintha. Funds were set aside for their younger children, Carroll Richardson was given fifty acres of land and provisions were made to sell the estate upon Sintha's deather; the proceeds to be divided equally among John and Sintha's heirs. Wiley P. Richardson and John's nephew, James M. Richardson were the executors of the estate.

In 1838, the year after the Republic of Texas was established, Carroll and Rose Anna sold their inherited land in Maury Co., TN and removed to Ash Springs; a small settlement located near Marshall, Harrison Co., TX. They began the trip in April after the birth of their daughter, Sara Ann (Richardson) Watkins was born.

Anna Richardson and her husband, Henry B. Cannon, traced her brother, Carroll and Rose Anna's trail to the Texas Republic. Henry Cannon received two grants from the Republic: one 640 acre tract at Delta County and another 640 acre tract at Harrison County. Henry & Anna later sold all of the Delta County land and 320 acres of the Harrison County land. The Richardson and Cannons built their north Texas farm homes and raised stock, grain and corn crops and cotton for the next 60 years. Other Richardson and Pullen Family Group descendants immigrated and settled in the northern part of Texas.
