About Syntha Richardson

Sintha, in our opinion, is more than likely a replacement for Sarah or Cynthia; but its only conjecture. "Synthy", as she is referred to in John's Will, has been a mystery for years. We've attached their bio for sharing; hopefully down the line someone will recognize a name or place and we can remove her from our "most wanted" list. Synthy had a sister named Jane.

Syntha (Willis) Richardson was born at Wilkes or Bartow Co., GA; her husband, John Richardson was born in 1752 at Wilkes Co., GA.

John Richardson served with the 2nd North Carolina Regiment, North Carolina Line during the Revolutionary War. John enlisted as a Private in 1777 and was assigned to Captain Allen's Company at White Plains, New York. In July, 1778, Private John Richardson was promoted to Corporal and attached to Captain Armstrong's Company in September 1778. Corporal John Richardson fought in the Battle of Princeton-Trenton, where he and 2,400 other troops crossed the Delaware River in order to attack the British at Trenton.

Corporal John Richardson fought at the Battle of Monmouth, the Battle of Brandywine and the Battle of Germantown. John Riachardson left the military after Germantown.

Corporal John Richardson was originally listed as a deserter because Company musters continued to list him. The regimental records failed to register his discharge at the Company level.

After Congress authorized veteran pensions, John chose not to take the pension at that time. By 1835, seventy-three years old, John Richardson had yet to claim his $20.00 per year pension. John's pension records are found in the Tennessee Pension Roll of 1835.

They began the trip in Aril after the birth of their daughter, Sarah Ann (Richardson) Watkins.

Carroll's sister, Anna (Richardson) Cannon and her husband, Henry B. Cannon traced Carroll & Rose Anna's trail to the Texas Republic. Henry Cannon received two grants from the Republic: one 640-acre tract at Delta County and another 640-acre tract at Harrison County. Henry & Anna later sold all of the Delta County land and 320 acres of the Harrison County land. The Richardsons and Cannons built their north Texas farm homes and raised stock, grain and corn crops and cotton for the next 60 years.
