About John Emmit Roach

<p style="text-align: left;" dir="ltr">John Emmit Roach was born in the territory west of North Carolina in 1794, which was a self proclaimed state since 1784 known as the State of Franklin. In 1796 the state of Franklin along with territory west of Franklin where Cherokee still resided became the state of Tennessee. One source says he lived in Morgan County Tennessee. In 1822 he married Mary Jenkins who's parents, Job and Elizabeth came to Tennessee from Frederick Town (Winchester) Virginia. In May of 1830 the Indian removal act was passed by President Andrew Jackson. In Nov 1830 John Roach'sson William Jenkins was born in Jacksonville, Morgan County Illinois. Mary's parents also now lived in Morgan County Illinois. By 1838 the Cherokee were removed from the south. The 1840 census shows John Roach living in Pike County IL. ...Written by Clark Schulze</p>
