About John Shaak
19 Feb 1883: The family of Mr. John Shaak, South Lebanon Township, is terribly stricken with typhoid fever, seven of the family having been seized with the fever, four of whom up to the present time having died from its effects. The first one that died was Reuben, then Alice, on Saturday morning, Emma, and on Saturday night the head of the family, John Shaak. The funeral of Alice took place on Saturday afternoon and that of the father and daughter will be held tomorrow morning. The deaths have cast a gloom throughout the section of the country in which they live. [Lebanon Daily News]
