A Daniel Brittain, Perth Amboy, Middleton Co., NJ, cordwainer, sold to John Sharp of the same place, carpenter, for...., lot of land in Perth Amboy, NJ. Witnesses Joseph Leigh, James Dickenson. Recorded Jan 7, 1742/43. Daniel Britton's ancestor Nicholas Stillwell employed the Scotsman James Chrystee and both were soldiers for the Dutch. In an English uprising on Long Island, James Chrystee was killed. His widow Sarah married second Humphrey Clay- Britton Genealogy by Elmer Garfield Van Name, J.D., LL.D., 1970. John Sharp II was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church, pew 19. Gabriel Steel, friend of John Mathews, was in pew 23. John Sharp II was in the same church as Rev. William Skinner, who married Elizabeth Van Cortlandt and Andrew Johnston, who married Catharine Van Cortlandt.
