JOHN W. SHELBY New Paltz, N.Y. John W. Shelby of New Paltz, a retired regional manager of Curtis and Petersen Publishing Companies, died Sunday, Jan. 21, 2001, in Benedictine Hospital, Kingston. He was 82. The son of the late John and Mary Shelby of Brick, N.J., he was born in Bayonne, N.J. Mr. Shelby was a Veteran and a member of the VFW. In earlier years he belonged to the National Guard and then served with the 7th Air Force in WWII. He was a graduate of St. Mary's Commercial School in Plainfield, N.J. and Casey Jones Aeronautical School. Survivors include his wife, Alberta; a daughter, Patricia Rivenburgh of Gardiner; one grandson, Bryan Donohue of Washington State; one great-grandson Cameron Shelby Donohue of Washington State; three sisters, Alice Miller of Delevan, Betty Mullin of Bedminster, N.J., and Dorothy Borgfeldt of California; seven nieces; and four nephews. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimers Disease Research, 15825 Shady Grove, Suite 140, Rockville, MD 20850-4022. Arrangements are private and in lieu of services an anatomical gift has been given to Albany Medical College for research and education.
