IS DEAD IN FALLS
John Shelley. 84, died on Sunday (Aug 13. 1939) at his home, 6 Redoubt St., Highland Falls, after a short illness. He was born Dec. 21, 1855, in County Tipperary, Ireland, son of the late Patrick and Mary Tidwell Shelley.
FALLS RESIDENT FOR 59 YEARS
Mr. Shelley had been a resident of Highland Falls. West Point and , vicinity for the past 59 years. His wife, before her marriage, was the late Mary Brennan. He retired as first sergeant of the West Point Service Detachment, United States Army in 1915. He was a member of the Church of the Sacred Heart and of the Spanish American War Veterans.
22 GRANDCHILDREN
Four sons, three daughters and 22 grandchildren survive Mr. Shelley. The sons are Patrick J. of Astoria, L I, Michael J. of The Bronx, Thomas J. of Bridgeport, Conn., and William F. of New York City and the daughters, Mrs. Luke Rafferty, Mrs. Andrew Boyan and Miss Catherine M Shelley, all of Highland Falls.
Military Funeral Wednesday
Funeral services will be held from his late home. 6 Redoubt St., at 9:30 a. m. Wednesday and at I0 a. m. at the Church of the Sacred Heart where a solemn high Mass of requiem will be offered. Burial with full military honors will be in Highland Union cemetery in Highland Falls by Hogan & Bevans.
