About John Skeffington, 2nd Viscount Massereene
Sir John Skeffington was the son of Sir Richard Skeffington and wife Anne Newdigate. He married Hon. Mary Clotworthy, daughter of John Clotworthy, 1st Viscount Massereene and Lady Margaret Jones, on July 20, 1654 at St. Paul's Church, Covent Gardens, London, England. He died on June 21, 1695.
Sir John Skeffington gained the title of 2nd Viscount Massereene in 1665, at the death of his father-in-law, Sir John Clotworthy, 1st Viscount Massereene, without male heirs. The estate and title passed to him by right of his marriage to Mary Clothworthy.
