Down Rossall was that portion of Rossall south and east of the "Isle of Rossall" proper (which isn't quite an island but misses it by a mere quarter of a mile, being almost totally enclosed by a winding loop of the Severn River). Down Rossall came into the Stury family through the marriage of Eleanor (not Isabel, there was no Isabel), the younger sister and co-heir of Sir John Rossall,
