About John Tatham of the Province of West Jersey
BORN: John Tatham, the <Tatham> name being quite common in the Yorkshire/Lancashire region where there is even a Tatham parish
ASSUMED NAME: John Gray
"He was sent to Douai University in France as a youth to study for the priesthood, and became a Benedictine. In 1676 he returned to England as Father Bede Tatham. In 1678 a supposed Popish plot to kill King Charles inflamed hysteria against Catholics. Perhaps at this time Tatham left his post and took the name John Gray" ~• from: http://takingthelongview.org/index.php/2015/11/17/colorful-characte...

Currently looking for his ancestry in Yorkshire. There are many Tatham family lines there in the 17th century. See: Yorkshire, England, Church of England Parish Records, 1538-1873 for John Tatham Thornton-in-Lonsdale, 1576-1812
- It would be great to find his marriage to Elizabeth and the birth of Dorothy
- May have had a brother : James Cuthbert Tatham ( xxxx - 1718) , (see discussion and screen capture)
