John Thomson Jr. was born in 1642 at Dorchester, Massachusetts.1 He was the son of John Thomson Sr. and Sarah (?).
John Thomson Jr. lived before September 1663 at Weymouth, Massachusetts.2 He was chosen to settle the newly established town of Mendon in September 1663.2 He married Thankful Woodland, daughter of John Woodland and Martha (?), circa 1665 at Dorchester, Massachusetts.1
John Thomson Jr. and John Thomson Sr. signed a document relating to provisions for Reverend Joseph Emerson of Concord, the first settled minister of the town on 1 December 1669 at Mendon, Massachusetts.3
John Thomson Jr. and John Thomson Sr. abandonded the town of Mendon (thereafter burned by the Indians in early 1676) with his family, taking refuge in the relative safety of the towns further east circa December 1675.3 John Thomson Jr. and John Thomson Sr. were among the first of the original families to return to Mendon circa July 1677.3
John Thomson Jr. was chosen as Surveyor of Highways at the first meeting since the towns resettlement on 3 January 1680 at Mendon, Massachusetts.4 He witnessed the will of John Thomson Sr. on 27 March 1684 at Mendon, Massachusetts; "in the name of the Lord, Amen. I, John Thompson, Sr. of the town of Mendon. being sensible of my own bodily weakness and infirmities, the manifest alarms of my hastening and approaching dissolution, acknowledge with all the humble thankfullness divine goodness, affording such an opportunity whilst blest with disposing mind to set my house in order before my Earthly Tabernacle is dissolved, do make and constitute this my last last Will and Testament. .."
