Many on the internet lie that his parents were born 40 years after he was - that is possible in the movie Back to the Future, but not in real life in Late Medieval Scotland.

I don't think the records show that this person was connected with the Scottish Wallaces. Sir John Wallace was born in about 1530 and Margaret Cunningham in about 1533. This John Wallis is suspected of being born about 1490 and that makes him 40 years older than his supposed parents. The death date of 1586 is for the man listed as his brother, John Wallace III.
