Born in Calstock, Cornwall in 1851 to Thomas Warrick and Mary Stephens.

Moved to Cramlington, Northumberland with his younger brother William in or before 1871. On the 1871 census he is lodging with his brother at the Start family’s residence at Cramlington Terrace, Cramlington. Both brothers list their occupations as coal miners.

Married Isabella Scott the following year, on November 30, 1872 in West Rainton, County Durham.

As per the 1881 census, he lived in East Rainton, County Durham with his wife and three children: Mary Jane, Elizabeth and Thomas. His occupation was coal miner. They resided at 134 Lewis Street, Rainton East.

He is listed in the 1891 census as a widower and a coal miner, living in Middle Rainton Village with his children Mary Jane, Thomas, Agnes, John and Isabella. The village of Middle Rainton was served a schedule D noticed and ceased to exist in the 1970s— it is now a public nature reserve.

By 1901 he had remarried and lived in the mining village of Coundon, Durham with his new wife Mary and three children from his first wife: Isabella, John and Rennison. He cited his occupation as ‘Coal shifter below ground’ and lived at 125 High Grange Valley.
