Wanda, I may connect to the Joseph Waters family in Charles Co., MD. He had a grandson, Elias Waters, that may be my ancestor. He was listed in Joseph's Will of 1775. Joseph asked that two son, Thomas & Wm., provide schooling for Elias.

My Elias Wasters was on a 1783 Tax List in Shenandoah Co., VA and married in Culpeper Co., VA in 1799.

I am wondering if he is the son of John Waters who died in 1770. His wife, Rebecca Waters, remarried to Roger Cahill and was in Culpeper County at least 1793-1800 then was in KY by 1810.

I need to find Orphan's Records for this Elias!!! Do you know where they would be available?

My Waters DNA is closest to a John Waters, d.c.1692, Charles County MD, from Wales.

[J-M172. This is probably NOT a match for the Anne Arundel line, which (presumably) originated in Hertfordshire, England and may or may not have belonged to R-DF21.]

I found the proof in the Maryland Archives in Annapolis. Elias Waters is the son of John Waters (d. abt 1770 per Testamentary Proceedings and the 1774 final Accounting) and Rebecca (who remarried to Roger Cahill), and the grandson of Joseph and Mary Waters (per Joseph's 1775 Will Charles Co., MD).
