About John Wightt

John Wightt had to be born after 1683 as his mother was born after 1667, the year her parents were married. Although he is listed as a coroner with his father in 1700, he could not have been of age.

John Wightt Jr. was born about 1685, when his parents married. His mother had to be born after 1666 as she was the daughter of John Gitting's second wife as listed in her will. He married Ann Greenfield after his father died in 1705, and before he was mentioned in a property transfer in 1711. Although John Wightt was his first born son, he may have had one or more daughters born first, starting with Mary.

John Wightt listed seven children in his will John, Jonathan, Unnamed, Richard, Mary, Innocence, and Ann. Isle of Wightt was named in his wife's will in 1742.
