I believe this profile has the most complete discussion on why John Winn is an unproven person and his wife Martha Byrd is also unsourced. https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Winn-248 Many old genealogies has been found to have theories and speculation that cannot be verified by modern research. The suspicion is that the mother of Minor Winn had a last name of Minor is based on assumption. He could have been named after a close family friend, a grandparent, etc. If you have questions, you may want to email Rev. Cynthia Forde for the DNA results on different Winn lines and the lack of sources for any person named John Winn or Martha Byrd.
