John emigrated on the Recovery of London. John, of Cambridge or Watertown, was admitted a freeman of Watertown 4 Mar 1635. He was representative May 1635. His inventory was taken 17 Jul 1638.25. John Woolcut sold property at Salem MA in 1635 to William Lord of Salem. John Woolcott of Watertown died in 1638. An inventory of his estate was taken at Salem.

In 1620 John Woolcott first married Mary Wrentmore. Mary died ca 1630. Mary of Glastonbury.

John second married Winifred. Winifred died bef 28 Feb 1675.

Winifred first married [John?] Crawford who drowned at Watertown in 1634, second John Wolcott of Watertown, and third Thomas Allyn.

Anderson notes:14 "John Craford & Winifred Longman" were married on 2 February 1629/30 at the parish of St Veda st Foster Lane, London [Harleian Society, Register Series, 30:13 ]; further research would be required to determine whether this is the New England couple.

The second Wolcott family in the American colonies was that of John Woolcott, who immigrated to America in 1634. John was a son of Edward Woolcott of Axbridge, Somerset, mercer and mayor of Axbridge, by his wife Marie Phippen. Edward was a son of John Wolcott of Tolland, son of Thomas Wolcott of Tolland, son of Thomas Wolcott of Tolland, and was therefore a second cousin of Henry Wolcott who immigrated in 1630. The Woolcott spelling used by early generations of this family is a variant spelling of Wolcott, the spelling used by most American Wolcotts today. Woolcott continued to be the preferred spelling in England.

After the death of his first wife, Mary Wrentmore, John immigrated to America on the Recovery of London, which departed from Weymouth, Dorset, in 1634. He was admitted as a freeman of Cambridge MA in 1635. His daughters, Elizabeth and Mary, either came with him, or followed soon after. Shortly after arriving in America, John Woolcott married Winifred Longman Crawford of Watertown. She was the widow of John Crawford who drowned in the Charles River in 1634. Winifred had two children from her first marriage, Martha and Rebecca. John's surname was usually spelled Woolcott, a spelling that some of his descendants continued using.

A woollen draper who came from Axbridge, Somerset, to Massachusetts Bay in 1634 (on 31 Mar 1634, "John Woolcott," appears on passenger list of the Recovery, preparing to sail for New England from Weymouth, Dorset).
He settled at Salem MA, but moved to Cambridge in 1636 & Watertown in 1637, where he was a yeoman & planter.
He was baptized at Axbridge, Somerset, 13 May 1599, Son of Edward Woolcott.
He married (1) at St. John, Glastonbury, Somerset, 18 Jan 1620/1, "Mary Wrinkmore." (Two marriage allegations were entered for this couple: [i] "John Woollcott of Axbridge,woolen draper, & Mary Wrentmore of Glastonbury, spinster, to be married at Axbridge;" (ii) 8 Jan 1620/1 "John Woolcott of Axbridge, wollen draper, & Mary Wrentmore of St. John's Glastonbury, to be married at Axbridge or Glastonbury."). They had 4 children,
He married (2) (possibly) by about 1634 ____ ____. They had one child.
He married (3) by 1637, Winnifred (Longman?) Crawford, widow of {JOHN} CRAWFORD {1634, Watertown}. She married (3) by 10 Nov 1642, THOMAS ALLYN {1639, Barnstable}. They had 2 children.
He died by 5 Jun 1638 (when his widow was ordered to bring in an inventory of his estate).
John Woolcott was almost certainly closely related to HENRY WOOLCOTT {1630, Dorchester}. There is no evidence he was a son of John Woolcott.
