About John de Aleman, Lord of Studley Royal, KT
Studley Priory, an Augustinian house, was founded in the 12th century by Peter de Corbizun, afterward known as Peter de Studley. Peter had transferred from a priory of Augustinian canons that he founded in Witton, Worcesteshire. John gave his mill at Malham to the monks at Fountains for the good of the poor. Noted as knight, and presented his moiety in 1229. Lynton was a moiety of Studley Royal.
