Jonas B McClung Jr was the son of Jonas B Sr & Rebecca Reed McClung. He married Sarah Jane Dodson, daughter of Nimrod & Polly Stewart Dodson. They were among the earliest settlers of the Bluff community. Their children were; William A, James, Francis, Adaline, John & Elzada McClung.

J. B. McClung Pvt. Enlisted July 7, 1861. Admitted to CSA Hospital in Farmville, Virginia on July 6, 1862 due to Typhoid. Given 90 day furlough on October 10, 1862. Wounded at Chancellorsville May 3, 1863 and admitted to Moore's Hospital where his upper left arm was amputated. Transferred to 3rd Alabama Hospital on May 23, 1863. Given 60 day furlough on June 12, 1863 to Fayette County, Alabama. Applied for relief as maimed November 30, 1879 in Fayette County, Alabama.

Jonas ran a mercantile at Wayside for many years. He served as Fayette County Tax Assessor for 18 years.
