Son of Jonathan Gleason Davenport and Mary Coleman (Warner) Davenport.

He married, first, on Mar 19,1902 at Charlemont,MA, Lilla E Davis. She was born on Feb 28,1879 at Halifax,VT, a daughter of Joel I Davis and Lydia Ann Haley Davis. She died in 1942.

Children: Lois M Davenport Rice(mother of James Alden Rice), Jonathan Gleason Davenport and, Elizabeth Davenport Carter Morrissey.

Shelburne Falls - Jonathan W Davenport, 89, formerly of 29 Mechanics St., died Saturday at a nursing home. Born in Rowe, Nov 12, 1877, the son of Jonathan G and Mary E (Warner) Davenport, he was a former employee of the New England Electric System, having retired 19 years ago. His wife, the former Lilla E Davis, died in 1942. He was a charter and 50 year member of the Union Lodge of Oddfellows in Charlemont and had lived most of his life in Rowe prior to moving to Shelburne Falls. He leaves two daughters, Mrs. Alfred Rice of Charlemont and Mrs. Lawrence Morrissey of Ashfield; a son, John of Bellows Falls, Vt.; two sisters, Mrs Florence Bolton of Shelburne Falls and Mrs. Mae Carpenter of Charlemont; a brother, Louis of Charlemont; eight grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, a great-great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews. The funerl will be Monday at 10 at Smith funeral home with Rev Henry Bartlett of Charlemont Federated Church officiating. Burial will be in East cemetery Rowe. There are no calling hours.
