Captain and part owner of the schooner Speedwell, commission to Mass Bay (Boston Harbor) during the Revolutionary War. He was killed 1781 in an engagement with a British frigate off Marblehead.

Note: This family name was originally GREELEY, you will see some vitals with this spelling.

Capt Greely's body was returned to the family; I have no doubts he is in the tomb of Caleb Loring, his cousin, and best friend whom he served with.

After much research of the tombs, I have discovered that many of the field burials were removed to tombs early 1850. This is when the tombs were added to and many sold during that time. Construction started Sep/Oct 1849 and many of the burials and re-interments were either not recorded or lost.
