1. Obadiah Seely1,2,3 was born June 1614 in St Martin Parish-Birmingham, Co Warwick, EN, and died 25 August 1657 in Stamford, CT4,5. He married Mary Angell6 Abt. 1647 in Stamford, CT, daughter of James Angell and Anna Elliot.

Notes for Obadiah Seely: Many secondary sources claim that Obadiah Seely of Stamford was a son of [Captain] Robert Seely, however, based on many recent clues, the claim must be rejected. Robert Seely married first in 1626; had a son Nathaniel in 1627; so if Obadiah was a son of Robert Seely, he must have been born in 1629 or later. The eldest son of Obadiah was born in the late 1640s, when Obadiah, under this hypothesis, could have been no more than twenty, and perhaps even less. This chronological impediment is not fatal, but it makes the connection highly unlikely. Beyond this, we see that Robert Seely and Obadiah Seely lived in different towns, that they do not appear in the records together in any action, and that the name Obadiah does not appear among the immediate descendants of Robert Seely (through his son Nathaniel), nor does the name Robert appear among the immediate descendants of Obadiah.
