William Pennington did not marry a Susannah Caudill. His wife was Abigail Caudill, daughter of James and Mary (Adams) Caudill. Information on their marriage is recorded in the Lester family bible. They married 9 Feb 1785 in Wilkes County, NC. Their son Abel married Elizabeth Smith, daughter of Jonathan and Jemima Smith. Jonathan was the son of Hugh and Jane (Fyffe) Smith also of NC. Elizabeth and Abel were married in Floyd County, Kentucky with both William and Jonathan signing as fathers of the couple.
