About Jonathan Waldo

Jonathan Waldo was born circa 1668 at Chelmsford, Middlesex County, Massachusetts. He was the son of Dea. Cornelius Waldo and Hannah Cogswell. Jonathan Waldo died on 26 May 1731 at Boston, Suffolk County, Massachusetts.

Married

  1. Hannah Mason on 28 November 1692 at Boston, Suffolk County, Massachusetts; married by Samuel Sewall, Esq., Asst.
  2. Priscilla Hemans on 8 February 1726 at Boston, Suffolk County, Massachusetts.

In almost all notices of the family he has been called the son of his brother Daniel, but his true place in the family is establised by a deed, dated Apr. 25, 1716, by which "Jonathan Waldo of Boston Merchant and Hannah his wife for and in consideration of y_ Nathural love and affection y_ we have and bare towards our well beloved Brother Daniel Waldo and his present wife our sister Susannah Waldo," conveyed a life interest to them in a farm in Pomfret, Conn. This farm was conveyed to him by deed dated Apr. 17, 1716, by John Chandler of Woodstock, and was evidently purchased for the purpose of settling his brother Daniel upon it.
