Geertruy Aukes (Auckerts) van Nuyse ( bapt. 9 June 1647-bef. 1692) is named in her father's will ("Anke Jans van Huys. names all children from 1st wife (Magdalena Pieters)..also 2 children of Geertje Aunkes deceased procured by Joost Frans. Sarah Joosten and Magdalena Joosten " 15 May 1694 pr. 1698

Auke Jans van Nuysen was born 1622 married 25 Mar. 1645 Magdalena Pieters. Father was Jan Aukens His brother was Goosen Jans van Nuys. (From 17th century Hollanders by Eliz. Johnson)

  • Geertruyd AUckes van Nuys marr. Joost Fransen (who is not rec. as arriving in 1654)
  • Joost Ffransen appears in the Oath of Allegiance 1687 stating he was in this country for 33 years.
  • 28 Aug. 1666 Joost Fransen recorded paying 6 guilders as marriage fee (Flatbush town records 1663-1680)
  • "Joost Fransen" is rec. in tax rolls of Midwoud from 1675 to 1683
  • 2 Nov. 1679 (Flatbush DCR) "Frans Joosten and Gertruyd Auckes bapt. "Magdalena" sp.Wynant Pieterse and wife Jannetie Auckes van Nuys". Although the record says" Frans Joosten not Joost Fransen", it is clearly the same person.
  • This Magdalena did not marry Anthony Teunis van Pelt, and is not named Helena. ( as stated in The Dorland enigma by Barbara Barth) because Anthony van Pelt and wife "Magdalena" have an unnamed child in 28 Sept. 1679 (Flatbush DRC)
  • Sarah ab. 1667?. Not confirmed. Saartje Joosteen jm. Van Breukelen marr. Michiel van der Koeck 15 Feb. 1699.

Geertje Aukes "death record 7 Oct. 1681 in Flatbush" (Records of the Dorland family...) is not confirmed and seems unlikely because Joost would re-marry about 1682 not 1692, this date does not appear in any other writings.

Geertje Aukes died bef. 20 Jan. 1692 when Jost Fransen marr. 2) Annetje Joris (Flatbush DRC) ( Annetie is dau. Of Joris Rapelje)

"Joost Francis of Bedford late by fire deceased died interstate", his inventory Feb.. 1695/6 shows wife non compos mentis and 2 children unnamed Reynier Aertsen and John Anchies /Ohe next relations; home, home lot, 40 acres, livestock and farming implements, there are payments to be made for the coroner and beer for his funeral to be paid. (Abstracts of wills v. 1)

Reynier Aertsen is husband of Geertje Aukes sister Jannetje AUckes van Nuys, John Anchies/Ohie is brother to Geertje Jan Auckes van Nuys.
