About José Cojuangco
Co Yu Hwan and his extended family arrived in the Philippines from Hong Chian, Tong-An in 1861. Soon after his arrival in Manila, he became a Christian and was baptised José Cojuangco. With his family settled in Malolos, Jose traveled as a maestro carpentero.
