Jose Sanchez

On January 8, 1819, a group of merchants solicited the City Administration for the rights to sell their goods in the Plaza de Jesus. They were: Domingo and Jose Sanchez, Bartolome Nunez, Isidro Gonzalez, Lorenzo Velez de la Barrera, and Jose Pena. They promised that for this right they would donate 15 pesos monthly towards the payment of the guards at the city jail. At the next Council Meeting there was opposition from Pio Carmona and others who wanted the City Market to stay at the Plaza de San Francisco.
