Jose de Jesus Peiret

Due to slave insurrections in the territory around Puerto Principe (Camaguey) it was decided, on February 4, 1812, to elect 4 neighborhood mayors in Sancti-Spiritus, Cuba who would be in charge of policing their neighborhood. The four chosen were: Joaquin de Fabrega, Jose de Jesus Peiret, Br. Jose Maria Canizares and Juan Rodriguez y Gonzalez Calona. It was also decided to elect two additional (Alcaldes de la Santa Hermandad), Manuel Mursuli and Pedro Luis Lopez.
