She was a widow of three years at the time of her son's birth( Gustaf) in Goteborgs Domkyrkforsamling. Her husband Fran Wilhelm Sjolin died of pneumonia Feb 12 , 1880. Josefina had a relationship with Edvin Engstrom. . Son Gustav born in 1883 was listed as illegitimate. In 1890 census she is living with her mother and her brother, Gustav Ludvig Ericsson and his family in Varola. Even her 2 sisters and mother are living in the same house. Now we see that she died in 1942 at the age of 90 in varola Sweden . In October 1896 her mother and three is her brother’s children all die of Diphtheria in one week.

   Josefina was baptized  Sept 25 1851 inVarola.Her confirmation was in1866 in Varola. Josephina had two siblings who emigrated to America -- Christina Elisabet Eriksdotter (3/3/1873 from Gothenburg to Chicago).  Per August Eriksson (march 1880).  Three of her brother Gustaf Ludvig Eriksson's children emigrated to Illinois.  Torsten Herbert Eriksson (b. 1897), Bror Erik Eriksson (b1899), and Gota Stina Magdalena Eriksson (b1902) emigrated to the Chicago area of Illinois and Michigan. Josefina lived with her brother Ludvig Ericksson from 1890 I until his death. He had three children who emigrated to America  Thorstein Gota and Bror. . When Josefina was living with her brother"s family  in 1890 three of  Gustaf children ( ages 10 months 2 and 6) and  Ludvig andJosefina"s mother all died of diptheria- all within one week!

When Josephina died in 1942 she left everything to her deceased brother"s Gustaf Ludvig's children- Torsten, Bror and Gota Stina magdalena, and to her other brother, Per August, in America, in the state of Illinois.The address for the 3 children are listed in Josefina's estate papers. It appears that Josefina outlived all her siblings in Sweden. She died at the age of 90 In Sweden and her son Gustav died two years later in Illinois. Apparently Gustav never knew he had family on his mother’s side who also had immigrated to America and lived in Illinois not far from him. In her will she left everything to her brother Pers, and two nephews and a niece..all who lived in America.
