About Joseph Alexander Higginbotham
Joseph Alexander Higginbotham was a son of Burris and Isabella Donna Incy? Higginbotham of Camden Co. GA, and Nassau Co. FL. He married Mary Ann (Polly) Pinkham about 1811, in GA and they reared their 12 children on his 300 acre Spanish land grant situated on Spell Swamp, a branch of the St. Marys River in Duval Co., FL, in 1815(now Nassau Co. FL). After Fl became a territory, Joseph A. was a member of the Fl legislature at least twice. They were living in Nassau Co. FL, in the 1840 census. It is listed in Index Confirmed Claims FL Spanish Land Grants. Joseph died in Yulee, Nassau Co., FL, and he and Mary Ann are buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Nassau Co., FL.
