Joseph was born about 1685. He is the son of Stephen Atwood and Apphia Bangs.

"Joseph Atwood and Bethiah Crowell were joined in marriage the 12th of October 1710 by me Daniel Greenleaf."[1] Their children[2] were Joseph, Paul, Bethia, Mehitable, John, Deborah, Christopher, Elizabeth & Mercy Crowell
