Will of Joseph Batchelor/Bachellor
In the name of God, Amen, I Joseph Bachellor being sick(?)__ Do make this my Will ___Imprimis I give and bequeath to my Loving Wife, Mary Bachellor free priviledge of my Plantation and Land, and the half of my Water Mill During her Widowhood. Item I give to my Son James Bachellor, after my Wifes marriage or Death my Plantation including with it two hundred acres of Land to him and his heirs for Ever, and one Negro Boy called Cush and after my son James Bachellors Decease, I give the sd Negro Boy Cush to my Grandson John Bachellor and if Grandson John Bachellor Dies without Heirs than I give the sd Negro Boy to Eliz(a) Bachellor, my Grand Daughter.
Item, I give to my son Stephen Bachelor one hundred acres of Land joyning to my son James Land; being the upper part and one hundred acres of Land in the Western Branch Joyning to Wm. Bass to him and his heirs for Ever lawfully begotten of his Body and one Negro Boy called Tony and one hand __ and if my son Stephen dies without Then I give the sd Negro Boy called Tony to my Grand Son James Harbutt and his heirs for Ever and I give to my son Stephen Bachellor one feather Bed with the furniture belonging to it. Item I give to my Daughter Ann Harbutt, my Negro Woman called Hays and my Biggest Iron Pott after my Wifes Decease. Item, I give to my Daughter Mary Bachellor one Negro Boy called Pompy and Feather Bed with some Furniture, one Iron Pott and if my Daughter Mary dies without Heirs then I give my Negro Boy Pompy to my Daughter Ann Harbutt after the Death of my wife. Item I give to my Daughter Eady Bachellor after my Wifes Death one negro boy called Sharpes(?), one Feather Bed with some Furniture, one Iron Pott.
Item I give to my Daughter Sarah Bacheller after my Wifes Death, one Negro Boy called Philly (or poss. Philip), one Feather Bed with some Furniture one Iron Pott.
Item I give to my four youngest children, Stephen Mary Eady and Sarah all my Pu_t__(?) to be Equaly divided amongst them at my Wifes Death and if my Wife Deceases before my youngest children come of age I do give them to my Daughter Ann Harbutt and to my Son In Law, Richard Harbutt and their Portions belonging to ___(them?) and I do give all the rest of my Estate not here named to my loving Wife Mary Bachellor within and without During her life and at her death to be Equally Divided among all my children and I do appoint my loving Wife Mary Bachellor Full and whole ex(ecutor) of this my last Will, annulling all of the Will or Wills made by me heretofore Where I have hereunto set my hand and seal 19th day of January 1733/4.
