Joseph A Churchill

Joseph A. Churchill was born at Dublin Ia., September 1, 1864. He passed away at his home in Fairmont, Sunday, June 29, 1952, at the age of 87 years, 10 months and 28 days. He had been confined to his home for several years because of ill health.

Mr. Churchill was united in marriage to Minnie McKinstry February 6, 1887. To this union four children were born. His wife preceded him in death July 22, 1896. He was again united in marriage to Jennie Guye March 25, 1897. Eight children were born to this union.

He came to Fillmore county in 1909 and located on a farm near Exeter. Here he lived for a number of years. Later he moved to Fairmont where he has since resided.

He has been a member of the Methodist church in Exeter for many years.

He was always a loving husband and father, a good neighbor and friend, and showed deep appreciation to his wife, his family and his friends for all their acts of kindness.

He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, Jennie; five sons, Walter W. of Fairnmont, Charles of Washington, Ia., James LeRoy of Pomona, Cal., Galo of San Dimas, Cal., and LaVerne of Pomona, Cal.; five daughters, Mrs. Clara Corbin of Wilmington, O., Mrs. Marie Hyde of Washington, Ia., Mrs. Violet Voigtlander of Spooner, Wis., Mrs. Bertha Condon of Lincoln, and Mrs. Gretchen Hoadley of Beloit, Wis.; also 36 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson and many friends. Two sons, Merril and Eugene, preceded their father in death.

Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon, July 3, at 2 p.m. at the Kritner-Ashby Funeral home with Rev. Norman Smitheram officiating. Mrs Rex Plock sang two hymns with Mrs. A.P. Stewart as accompanist.

Interment was in the Fairmont Cemetery.
