He appeared on the census of 30 January 1920 at Johnson County, Kentucky, listed as Joe age 38 head of house. He died on 22 April 1959 at Swamp Branch, Johnson County, Kentucky, at age 77. He was buried at Family Cemetery, Swamp Branch, Johnson County, Kentucky.

His obituary on 29 April 1959: Joe Click, 77, Well known resident of Swamp Branch, died at his home at 5:00 a.m., Wednesday April 22, after an illness of several months. The son of William and Mary Dotson Click, he was born at Swamp Branch August 17, 1881, and had been a farmer and life long resident of that community. Survivors include five sons, Elzie Click, Swamp Branch; Jerry Click, Riceville; Amos Click, Swamp Branch; Murle Click, Riceville; Leonard Click, Leander; six daughters, Malta Caudill, Riceville, Nancy Caudill, Mrs. Okie Conley, Rushie Spears, all of Swamp Branch; Mary Lee Ramey, Shelby, Ohio; Nova Joe Lemaster, Flint Michigan; two brothers, Bennie Click, Boyd County; William Click, Ashland; four sisters, Lillie Frazier, Bonanza; Mary McCalvin and Lovenia Stewart, both of Boyd County; Martha May and Carrie Mccoy both of Ohio. Funeral services were conducted from the home at 11"00 a.m. Friday, with Scott Castle and Charlie Lemaster as officiating ministers. Burial was in the family cemetery.
