LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT OF JOSEPH COLLIER
P.24.. 26 Dec.1818.. I, Joseph Collier, being weak in body but of sound and perfect mind & memory. I give to my grand daughter Mary Magdaline Chastise Garrett one negro girl, named Mary forever to be delivered when called for. I give to my granddaughter Amy Williams one negro girl named Mariah forever to be delivered when called for. I give to my grandson Joseph Collier when he arrives at the full age of twenty One years one negro fellow Lew, desire that my executors keep said negro at the rate of $70 per year and the money laid out towards his schooling and his sister Anna collier. I lend to my beloved wife Amey Collier all my property both real & personal during her natural life and I desire that she Should get her son Hillary Collier to attend to the business & at her death I give to my son-in-law Samuel Boyd one dollar. I also give to my two daughters-In-law Patsy Collier & Catherine Collier the sum of one dollar each. I give to the six children of my daughter Polly Boyd via, Augustus, Joseph, John, Amey, Sarah and Synth Boyd one dollar each. I give the sum of one hundred eight hundred dollars to be divided between the survivors as they come of age. As my son Hillary will have to attend to his mother's business at her death I give him one negro fellow named Pollard, and my smith tools and the tract of land whereon I live bought of John Glaser and the land I bought from Thomas Murrah. I give to my grandson Joseph Collier 150 ?? of land adjoining Wm. Howle and Jesse Bailey whereon my son Abialon formerly lived and the balance of my land lying between the above named land and the land given to my son Hillary I give to my grandson Edward Collier in consequence of the particular attention of my daughter Sarah Y Combs to her mother and myself during our late sickness I give her a negro named Fannie. I give to my granddaughter Anna Collier one negro man named Fabin. I give to my two granddaughters Mary Garrett & Amy Williams one negro woman Tammy to be equally divided between them. The remaining property to be equally divided amongst my children Hillary Collier, Nancy Talbert, Sarah Y Combs. Abialon Collier children. I appoint my wife Amey Collier & my son Hillary Collier sole executors and I appoint also my son-in-law John Talbert & John L. Combs as executors.; Wit: Charles Hammonds, Wm. Cloud and Ann Morgan.
