Notes for JOSEPH DAVIS, SR.:

According to Joseph's great grandson, John Walter Davis, one of Joseph's uncles was said to have predicted his own death and claimed to have heard voices.

Joseph and wife Elizabeth are buried at Joe Davis Bend in River, Kentucky. His tombstone reads "He served his generation well and was gathered to his fathers".

There is controversy over who Joseph's father was. I originally had him listed as the son of Joseph Davis and Margaret Hayes. Some researchers feel this is incorrect and he was the son of Joseph's brother William. As of October 7, 2000 I am now showing him as the son of William and listing Joseph Davis & Margaret Hayes as the parents of Joseph R. Davis married to Elizabeth Border's sister, Catherine Borders.
