Joseph Finch was the son of Joseph Finch and Elizabeth Austin. He was buried in the original part of the oldest cemetery in Greenwich, Connecticut - Tomac Burial Ground. His grave along with his wife's, his father's and his mother's graves were rough field stones with crude if any inscriptions upon them. They now rest quietly in the grounds where the first church in Greenwich once stood.
Joseph's father, Joseph Finch, was one of the original 27 Proprietors of Greenwich. He was on the 1697 Tax List as Joseph Finch, Jr. On February 29, 1700 he was granted land in Greenwich. He was the grandchild of John Finch who died in the scourge that spread through the Stamford settlement in 8/1657.
