April 1734, Mercy Finch, widow of Lieutenant Samuel Finch of Greenwich, conveys to Isaac Holmes of Greenwich, land on the right of her deceased father, Jonathan Whelpley. Rogers Finch notes (Subject: Re: [FINCH] Samuel Finch & Abigail Resco Date: Tue, 21 May 2002 15:32:56 -0400): "Samuel (342-4) was selected as guardian for his brother Jeremiah (342-6) on Dec. 6, 1743 when he was 15. Jeremiah's (346-6) third child Jeremiah (342-63) was born in Greenwich 1752/3. Samuel's first child Jeremiah (342-41) was baptized June 24, 1752 at St. John's Episcopal Church. This accounts for three Jeremiahs. Without my having done further research, it looks as if Jeremiah (342-63) and Jeremiah (342-41) might be the same person and not a son of Samuel (342-4). In that case, your Samuel could have been the first child of Samuel (342-4) and Abigail born about 52." References: Thummel: ref non. 342, p. 25-6. TAG Mead, Hist.
