As stated in "Thomas Joy and His Descendants" by Thomas R. Joy published by James Richard Joy, Plainfield, NJ, July 4, 1900; compiled by James Richard Joy, New York: "In February 1708-9, with others signed testimonial to the worthy character of Mehitable Warren, accused of withchcraft. Lived on Main St., Hingham, nearly opposite Winter. His gravestone, with the inscription still legible, is in the Hingham churchyard. It is the most ancient Joy grave mark in America."
